In its constant exploration of new fields of interest, the Kunsthal Rotterdam will organize a new event on Saturday, 22 and Sunday, 23 September 2007: CHOCOLAd'AMOUR, Festival of Sweet Sin. Based on the success of the two-yearly Festival of Real Taste, KunsthalCOOKING, the Kunsthal again presents a culinary cultural event, this time completely dedicated to chocolate.
CHOCOLAd'AMOUR will be a high-grade event with close attention to all aspects of chocolate, including new developments, flavours, forms and uses. For two days, visitors will be introduced to temptation, pleasure and tasting experiences of the highest quality. Craft and tradition go hand in hand with innovation and experiments. Fifty of the best chocolatiers, designers and producers in the field are to be invited.
CHOCOLAd'AMOUR will be a tasteful fair, enriched with performances, workshops, lectures, demonstrations and tasting sessions. Visitors can take part in a Dark Tasting, try combinations of different types of chocolate and coffee, chocolate and dessert wines and sherry, witness the Dutch chocolate sprinkles competition or be seduced by lingerie designer Marlies Dekkers with a special contribution to
CHOCOLAd'AMOUR. The history of chocolate will be highlighted in theme presentations such as chocolate shapes, packaging, posters and other collectibles. With amongst others the invention of the cacao press in 1828 by the Dutch chocolate manufacturer C.J. van Houten which made chocolate available for a broad audience. Chocolatier Kees Raat and culinary journalist Ellen Scholtens are to be involved in the event as advisors.
CHOCOLAd'AMOUR is a novelty for the Museumworld, and also the kick-off of The Taste Week that will be held in the Netherlands in the last week of September.
