Amsterdam-based auction house, Gavelers stands for an innovative system in which the specialist plays the leading role. What does this mean exactly? Gavelers offers the platform and all facilities essential for a successful auction business. It is the specialists themselves who build their own sales. Marcel Brouwer as one of our specialists who will auction the world-renown ceramic collection of J.W.N. Van Achterbergh at the Kunsthal.
Two ceramic collections
The collaboration between the Kunsthal and Gavelers is no coincidence. The current exhibition, Kleikunst, Steengoed!, is an appropriate accompaniment to the J.W.N. Van Achterbergh auction. This dynamic exhibition contains some of the most important ceramic pieces from the Boijmans Van Beuningen and the Van Achterbergh collections. Both the museum Boijmans Van Beuningen collected comparable ceramics at the second half of the twentieth century. During the auction preview days, both collections will be exhibited under the same roof, inviting visitors to peruse the pieces and come home with a their own piece of art from the Achterbergh collection.
Preview days and auction
Visitors will have the opportunity to have a sneak peek at the collection one week before the auction begins. These preview days enable buyers to see and examine the artworks before they are officially auctioned off. Visitors with no specific purchase goal are welcome as well.
The preview days for J.W.N. Van Achterbergh collection auction take place from Thursday 17 June until Sunday 20 June. The auction itself will be held the 22nd of June.
