In honour of her birthday, the Kunsthal organises a vibrant cultural weekend in which poetry, theater, music, circus, film, dance and visual arts join forces to create cultural cross-overs. 'Rotterdammers' such as Conny Janssen Dances, Youth Theatre Hofplein, Independent Theatre (OT), Codarts Rotterdam International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), Foundation for Arts Education Rotterdam (SKVR), and (young) talent provide special performances or workshop in one of the exhibition halls. Poets readout poetry among the icons of twentieth-century art in the exhibition 'Avant-gardes'. The sculptures by Aristide Maillol create a background for theater and dance. Dance school Cuartito Azul surprises visitors with passionate tango and spectacular circus acts taking place at unexpected sites in the building. With great regularity, beginner's workshops in painting and sculpting are organised with live models.
On Friday night, the auditorium will be converted into a cinema in which the IFFR presents an exciting preview. Saturday will bring back memories from phenomenal Museum Nights with performances by Wende, Charlie Dee and Eric Vloeimans & Gatecrash. On Sunday, Youth Theatre Hofplein performs a winter fairytale and renowned storyteller Frank Groothof presents a special children's play 'Peer Gynt' on the same day. The Kunsthalcafé is opened the entire weekend and provides various snacks and drinks.
