In 2019 the Kunsthal will present ‘Into the Unknown: A Journey through Science Fiction’, an exhibition curated by the Barbican Centre in London. Never before has this extremely popular subject been the subject of an exhibition featuring art, design, film, literature, comic strips and videogames.

The exhibition takes the visitors on a journey of discovery past the different science fiction genres and, in doing so, presents the subject from an entirely new perspective. The roots of the science fiction genre will be uncovered through the work of pioneers such as Jules Verne and Ray Harryhausen.  With the help of film excerpts, original manuscripts, contemporary art and film props, visitors will travel through time and space. The exhibition shows artworks and interactive installations, but of course visitors will also be able to marvel at the many costumes, masks, models and props from film classics such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Interstellar, Close Encounters, District 9, Alien, Jurassic Park and Godzilla.
