Build the Kunsthal in LEGO® blocks! 1 November 2022 will mark the 30th birthday of Kunsthal Rotterdam. At various moments in the run up to that date, we are turning the spotlight on what makes the Kunsthal the Kunsthal. In June – Rotterdam Architecture Month – the focus is on the Kunsthal building. To celebrate the 30th anniversary, the Kunsthal is launching a limited edition construction kit for collectors and fans.

KUNSTHAL LEGO® BATTLE 

12:30 hrs, 13:30 hrs and 14:30 hrs
Imagine yourself to be a true Lego Master and participate in the ‘Kunsthal Battle’. Assemble your limited-edition construction kit as quickly as possible and have a chance to win a Kunsthal mini figure as well as the Kunsthal construction kit! The battle is suitable for people from the age of 16. Are you a true Lego builder? In that case you can already participate from the age of 11. Would you like to secure a spot? Q&A WITH LEGO MASTER ERNESTO LEMKE

Ongoing for the entire day 12:00 to 16:00 hrs
Ernesto Lemke is a contemporary artist and art educator. He uses a technique called ‘Brickpainting’ to, as it were, paint with LEGO®. His portrait of the Dutch comedian Arjen Lubach made him the winner of the television programme Sterren op het Doek (Stars on Canvas), and he also featured in Lego Masters 2021 where he teamed up with Marco ten Hoff. Together they created a portrait of Vincent van Gogh out of LEGO®, making a big impression on the audience. At the Kunsthal, Ernesto will be working live on a new portrait. BUILD THE ROTTERDAM SKYLINE 

12:00 - 13:30 hrs & 14:00 - 15:30 hrs
Have you ever wondered what the Rotterdam Skyline would look like in LEGO®? During this workshop you will be working with some iconic Rotterdam buildings such as the Euromast, the Erasmus Bridge, or the Cube Houses and re-create the Rotterdam Skyline! 
The workshop is suitable for people of all ages. Children up to the age of 11 should be accompanied. Sign up on the day at the ticket office.

All day long you will also be able to start working with LEGO® yourself! At the Auditorium there will be enough LEGO®bricks and components to make the most wonderful creations!
