Kunsthal Rotterdam and Operator join forces on Friday 13 September for The Perfect Night. After fantastic past editions to celebrate hyperrealist sculptures, fashion artists Viktor&Rolf and the exciting, contemporary art from the collection of the founder of Mexx Rattan Chadha, this time you can enjoy an encounter by night with the exhibition Street Dreams. Enjoy a live talk show with special guests amid the works of art and performances by House of Vineyard. Afterwards you can dance until 02:00 hrs during the party in the Kunsthalcafé!
Host of this night is Operator presenter Samira Ben Messaoud. She will interview 'Street Dreams' team Aruna Vermeulen (HipHopHuis) and Lee Stuart. Other special guests are filmmaker Victor D. Ponten, stylist Isis Vaandrager and Guillaume Schmidt (Patta).
Until 02.00 you can dance on music provided by DJs Edson & Code Red (Roger Brouwn), MeSoJorny, JJAQ & DAYZ and the boys of Hunna at the afterparty at the Kunsthalcafé. House of Vineyard will surprise you with performances.
In collaboration with the HipHopHuis and guest curator Lee Stuart, the Kunsthal Rotterdam presents an exhibition about hip-hop and its influence on fashion and lifestyle. Streetwear is dictating the speed and aesthetics of the fashion industry and changing how that industry is developing itself. Through visual art, photography and video installations, the exhibition ‘Street Dreams: How Hiphop took over Fashion’, in collaboration with the HipHopHuis and guest curator Lee Stuart, show the looks, the codes and the creative force of hip hop, focusing on the origins and underlying philosophy of this street culture. Hip-hop is THE youth culture of choice, dominating the charts as well as the world-wide street scene – from a source of inspiration for high fashion brands to making sportswear more accepted for everyday attire.
