From the summer of 2020, Kunsthal Rotterdam will be presenting the interactive exhibition ‘Wonderland’, which brings to life the classic story by Lewis Carrol. For over a hundred and fifty years, Alice in Wonderland has managed to captivate and inspire. Since her first appearance in a drawing in 1865, and on screen in 1903, the character and her adventures have fired the imagination of large audiences and served as an important source of inspiration for television makers, musicians, directors, game developers and fashion designers.

Guided by Alice’s story, the large-scale exhibition tracks the evolution of film from analogue to digital. From the earliest illustrations and silent movies to live-action, augmented reality and 3D. In a theatrical set with around three hundred unique objects and props, moving images and amazing audio-visual artworks, visitors are transported to the magical world of Alice in a spectacular way. An extensive educational programme for schools and families is part of the exhibition.
The enchanting exhibition was developed by the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne and will have its European premiere at the Kunsthal in Rotterdam.
