Kamer de Maze
10 September, 2023
On Sunday 10 September you can experience Kamer de Maze (Chamber of the Maas River) at the Kunsthal. In this performance full of stories, conversations, art, dance, spoken word, music, and theatre, five makers will take you along in a quest for their roots, while also uncovering the impact the history of slavery has on them.
The five makers in Kamer de Maze are all from Rotterdam, but have roots in the various former colonies of the Netherlands. On the basis of the book Rotterdam in slavernij (Rotterdam in Slavery), these makers have been researching the impact of the history of slavery on their own lives. In Kamer de Maze you are taken along in the entire process. Expect an afternoon of stories, conversations, spoken work, dance, music, and art, and find out what impact the history of slavery has on both them and you to this day.
