Without a legal residency status, they have to work under abominable circumstances to produce food for European markets.

This summer, visitors to the Kunsthal are invited to discover The Grand Summer Hut, a playful and colourful experience designed by Rotterdam-based graphic artist Teuntje Fleur. From 4 July to 30 August, the stairs of the Auditorium are transformed into an interactive installation about wandering, searching, and finding.

Due to renovation works at the entrance area, the entrance to the Kunsthal has temporarily been relocated. From 18 May until 30 June, the entrance can be found halfway up the ramp. During this period, the café is also being renovated. As a result, the food and beverage offering is temporarily limited. A small refreshment area with drinks and a limited selection will be available in the Auditorium until 21 June. From 22 to 29 June, catering facilities will unfortunately not be available at the Kunsthal due to the installation of The Grand Summer Hut in the Auditorium. After the renovations, the renewed Kunsthal Café will open, developed together with food curator Perry de Man.

Before the Covid-19 measures led to all cultural institutions temporarily closing their doors from Friday 13 March, Kunsthal Rotterdam appeared to be on course for another record year. During the first 2.5 months of the year we had already welcomed 79,000 visitors.
