In close consultation with the board of supervisors, it has been decided that Nathanja van Dijk will be resigning as director/manager of Kunsthal Rotterdam as of 15 March 2021.

Arjan Schakenbos, chairman of the Kunsthal’s board of supervisors: “Since November 2019, Van Dijk has dedicated herself to the Kunsthal with a great deal of energy.  Over the past year she has, among other things, been working on outlining the plans for the coming period of the Cultural Policy Plan. Under her management a variety of offline and online initiatives were started. With flexible programming she managed to pilot the Kunsthal through a difficult period. The board of supervisors would like to extend its gratitude to Van Dijk for her dedication.”

Nathanja van Dijk: “With gratitude and satisfaction I can look back on a good period, but also on a turbulent time that has affected the entire cultural sector. I have very much enjoyed working with the Kunsthal team and the Kunsthal partners on realising a surprising and versatile programme that has enabled us to lastingly involve audiences in art and culture, even during this period. However, the board of supervisors and I also came to the conclusion that we have different opinions about which long-term policies should be pursued. I hope and expect that the Kunsthal will be able to open its doors again soon. And I would like to wish this wonderful Rotterdam cornerstone every success.”

Business director Herman van Karnebeek will step in as interim manager.
