On Tuesday 5 May, the Kunsthal hosts a special edition of KunstKoppels in collaboration with Rotterdam Freedom Meals. During KunstKoppels, you'll be paired with someone completely new to you – someone from a different generation, background, or walk of life. Sign up to visit the exhibition Flowers Forever, and discover both the art and each other. Afterwards, all participants are welcome to a bowl of Freedom Soup in the Kunsthal Café, with time to keep the conversation going.
With over two hundred objects spanning art, design, fashion and science, Flowers Forever presents the first comprehensive cultural-historical overview of the flower in the Netherlands. Discover how flowers evolved from mythical and religious icons into status symbols, commodities and links in the global ecosystem. Seven chapters show how deeply flowers are embedded in our culture as carriers of ritual, emotion and ideas – and offer a surprising look at the role of flowers in our society.
