17 November, 2018 10:00 - 18 November, 2018 17:00

On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 November the Kunsthal is devoting the whole weekend to space, motion and light during Kunsthallucinations. The exhibition ‘Action<->Reaction. 100 years of kinetic art’ is all about the illusion of seeing or not seeing. The Saturday programme goes into that in more depth, while on Sunday the focus is on joining in, kids and family activities.

The Saturday programme includes a performance of a work by the composer Györgi Ligeti by the Doelen Ensemble and a guided tour of the exhibition and lecture by Professor Tjeerd de Faber from the Rotterdam Eye Hospital. During the guided tour of ‘Action<->Reaction’ you will learn how kinetic art plays tricks with your eyes. Visitors can also try it for themselves and create their own hallucinations in the workshops.

Family day with Victor Mids!

Sunday is Kunsthal FAMILY Day with special activities for children and families. The well-known illusionist Victor Mids from the popular programme ‘Mindf*ck' will open the day with his spectacular Neuromagic show. Pepijn Gunneweg, from the BZT Show and Klokhuis, will present a special edition of the ‘Why? That’s why! Quiz’, and everyone can join in making the biggest mobile in the Netherlands.

Take the Look & Do tour of the exhibition ‘Action<->Reaction’ to find out all about kinetic art and make your own kinetic art in the Mad Science Lab. Make a catapult and transform potential energy into kinetic energy. Experience the refraction of light with special spectacles, make light vibrations visible with your voice, deceive your own eyes with stroboscope disks and suspend ping-pong balls in the air. Fun for young and old.
