May month of bees 2026
17 May, 2026 12:00 - 16:00
Throughout the month of May, the Kunsthal is dedicated to the bee! Learn more about bees and, together with a beekeeper from Odin, visit the bees on the Kunsthal rooftop. You will also explore the new exhibition Flowers Forever together, looking at it through the eyes of the bee.
Since the autumn of 2014, two bee colonies have been living on the roof of the Kunsthal, helping to pollinate the surrounding flora in the Museumpark. During Bee Month in May, immerse yourself in the world of the bee and discover how important these small creatures are, and why they need extra attention.
Bee Tour on the Kunsthal Rooftop
Sunday 17 May at 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00
Each tour lasts approximately 40 minutes and is suitable for all ages. Tours are given in Dutch.
Join a beekeeper from the biodynamic Odin apiary and head up to the rooftop to visit the bees. You will learn why bees are so important: why do they visit flowers, and how do they live together? Where does honey come from, and what does a beekeeper actually do?
You will also explore the exhibition Flowers Forever together, looking at it through the eyes of the bee, as a cultural-historical overview of the flower.
Registration for the bee tours takes place on the day itself at the Kunsthal. Participation is free upon presentation of a valid Kunsthal admission ticket. Youth up to 18 years old have free admission to the Kunsthal.
