Kunsthal Rotterdam and Operator join forces on Friday 11 May for The Perfect Night. After a successful first edition focusing on the work of photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, this 11 May you can experience a meeting by night with hyperrealistic sculptures, a live talk show, cutting-edge performances and a fabulous party in the Kunsthalcafé.
From 21.30 to 23.30 hrs the exhibition Hyperrealism Sculpture will be the exciting setting for a broadcast by the young Rotterdam online radio platform Operator. The radio and Kunsthal programmers have combined to present an evening of art, performances and special guests. The focus this evening is on the hyperrealistic sculptures. These familiar human figures stimulate intimate reflection on human nature. Stand eye to eye with the artworks and discover what they do to you. Is this real? To pump up the alienation we have prepared something special for you. The artist Yvonne Beelen’s performance group Ytopia will surprise and stun you with performances in and around the exhibition during The Perfect Night.
Host of the evening is the Operator presenter Samira Ben Messaoud. One of the guests that she will interview from the Kunsthal during The Perfect Night is Non la décadence – well-known from the Gender Bending Queer Party in WORM. Campaigns for equality in diversity. Another special guest is Lotte Meret Effinger. This young and promising artist was spotted by the Kunsthal during the presentation of her work in the Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. Her video installation ‘Aufs neue zu fürchten, zu hoffen und zu begehren’ – which will be shown during The Perfect Night – unmistakably and uniquely visualises what the work in the exhibition Hyperrealism Sculpture is about.
From 23.30 to 03.30 you can process all these intense experiences during an awesome party in the Kunsthalcafé. Of course, dj's Fader, Pohon and Yung Feurich & Mo Jakob will guarantee top level music. Don’t miss The Perfect Night, buy your ticket NOW!
