The South Korean artist Myungsu Seo is inspired by nature. She is especially fascinated by the element water. Derived from the thought that water contains life and ancient memories from places and people from over the whole world, Seo creates installations from glass drops filled with water. This way she catches the experiences from the past and cherishes them.
Seo, graduated from the Glass department of the Gerrit Rietveld academy in Amsterdam (2012), hand blows every glass drop herself, which makes every drop unique. With ‘Raindrop’, the ninth edition of Kunsthal Light, Seo would like to immerse people in the liberating and relaxing feeling that nature can bring us.
Kunsthal Light #9
Kunsthal Light focusses on the creation of chances for gifted artist from the Netherlands and abroad who show new trends in contemporary art.
For the duration of the exhibition, more work by Myungsu Seo is on display at the Nationale Nederlanden DE Café, located at Stationsplein in Rotterdam. With their glass collection Nationale-Nederlanden offers exposure to young (glass) artists.
