6 April, 2021 - 22 October, 2021

The Kunsthal and our main sponsor ING have joined forces to organise another new online edition of the Kunstbuzz, this time in the exhibition We Are Animals. Pupils from the lower classes of secondary education can register for a virtual tour of the exhibition with word artist Ivan Words. The official language of the Kunstbuzz is Dutch.

In the exhibition We Are Animals you can discover the world of animals in art. Sculptures of polar bears with feathers, enormous paintings of cuddlable cats and a flying elephant: unusual animals created by more than thirty contemporary artists meet in the Kunsthal. The works are focused on the relation between people and animals and show us how we look at ourselves in terms of animals. Why do we find animals sweet? Which human attributes do we give to animals? And why are we so fascinated by wild animals?

Your own poem or rap

Word artist Ivan Words guides pupils from secondary school education [roughly 12 – 16 years] through his experience of the exhibition We Are Animals. He challenges them to think about how they can turn images into words, and shows how they can convert their opinion about or interpretation of a work of art into a story. The pupils then make their own poem, rap, dialogue or comic strip in the video workshop in three steps.
