During Museum Week, you can lend your Museum Card to someone else or borrow someone else’s card. This way, everyone can discover the Kunsthal and enjoy art and culture!

A Chair and You

Be among the first to discover this exhibition
Chairs as you have never seen them before: in A Chair and You, these everyday objects become the stars of an immersive performance. This autumn, Kunsthal Rotterdam presents an exhibition centred around one of the world’s most important private collections of chairs, brought together by collector Thierry Barbier-Mueller (1960–2023). For the exhibition, American director, scenographer and artist Robert Wilson (1941–2025) selected more than 150 chairs by 124 designers from the collection. Inspired by the performing arts, Wilson used light, sound and scenography to create four thematic worlds.

Helen Levitt, City at Play

City at Play presents an extensive overview of the work of Helen Levitt (1913–2009). Spanning more than fifty years of her work, the exhibition captures everyday life on the streets of New York: children at play, chance encounters and small moments between passers-by. With her eye for everyday life, Levitt became one of the most influential photographers of her generation.

Woody van Amen, The Best of

The exhibition The Best of marks Woody van Amen’s ninetieth birthday and traces the development of his work from the early 1960s, when he became one of the pioneers of Pop Art in the Netherlands. The exhibition shows how Van Amen explores the boundaries of visual culture, technology and spirituality, drawing inspiration from his travels and experiences in Asia. His colourful and versatile works invite you to look again and again, discover new things and give your own meaning to what you see.

Benedikte Bjerre, When the wind blows

More than a hundred helium-filled baby penguins take over the Kunsthal in When the wind blows by Danish artist Benedikte Bjerre. Cute and aimless, they move as a group with even the slightest current of air. Using humour as a starting point, Bjerre raises serious questions about mass consumption and climate change.

The exhibition brings together the installation The Birds (2017) and Getting Warmer (2026), a new work Bjerre created especially for the Kunsthal.
